Blue Streaks Place Fifth Overall At Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – The men's cross country team traveled to Oberlin College this afternoon for the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble and came away with a top five team finish.

The Blue Streaks placed fifth overall, scoring a total of 184 points in varsity competition. Taking home the meet title were the Case Western Reserve University Spartans, earning a score of 84 points. 

RIT (95 points), Kenyon College (109 points), and Baldwin Wallace (134 points) placed second, third, and fourth. 

Leading the way for JCU and securing top finishes were Ian Paul and Nate Julien, who placed third and fourth overall. Paul would finish with a time of 25:32.50, while Julien wasn't far behind clocking in at 25:34.50. 

Sophomore Sam Su placed 41st overall with a time of 26:32.80, becoming JCU's third runner to cross the finish line. 

Stepping up for the Blue Streaks in a big way was junior Chris Whiting, placing 56th overall with a time of 26:47.10. 

To round up the top five in scoring was sophomore Joey Naiman placing 89th overall, running 27:15.90.

Finishing as the sixth and seventh runners were Phil Coury (27:17.80) and Matthew Dienes (27:48.30) placing 92nd and 113th. 

Championship season is now upon us as the Blue Streaks will look to regroup and find their momentum. 

Next up, the men will make their first NCAC Championship appearance on Saturday, November 1st at Kenyon College. Meet information will be posted next week.
