The Blue Streaks are hoping to open the NCAC era with success

CLEVELAND -- The preseason rankings from the 2025-26 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll are in. When it comes to John Carroll, the men's basketball team has been ranked second out of nine teams with a total of 66 points.

JCU received one first-place vote, behind Denison, as the Big Red claimed a total of 76 points and six first-place votes. DePauw and Wabash also garnered first-place votes.

The Blue Streaks step into a new season in a new conference after a strong final season in the Ohio Athletic Conference, ending with a record of 22-6. With an even split of 10 wins and 2 losses while home and away, the team has proven to be consistently strong whether they have the home court advantage or not.

John Carroll ended the OAC era with a bang, beating Mount Union in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center in the 2025 OAC Tournament Championship 82-69. That win secured the first back-to-back tournament titles for John Carroll Basketball in two decades.

The new season sees the return of a familiar face. Missing the majority of the 2024-25 season due to injury, Luke Chicone is set to make his comeback this November. The graduate student has been on the receiving end of many awards and was named Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission last season. His return will be a major asset to the Blue Streaks as they move forward into the NCAC.

JCU is set to play in the Ron Linhart Memorial Classic in Tiffin, OH November 14-15 against The University of Olivet and Heidelberg University to kick off the season.
