Blue Streaks Place Fourth Overall At Louisville Cross Country Classic

In Mostly A Division III Field, The Men's Cross Country Team Placed Fourth Overall At Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, KY – The men's cross country team willed their way to a top five finish at their biggest meet of the season this past Saturday.

The Blue Streaks came away with a fourth place team finish, scoring 212 points led by three runners who placed in the top 50 individually.

In a tight battle for first, the Otterbein Cardinals won the meet with a score of 153 points to take the meet title, followed by the University of Mount Union with 155 points.

Following up was St. Bonaventure, who would score 209 points to place third overall as a team.

Final Results

Leading the way for the Blue Streaks was junior Nate Julien, who placed 16th overall with a time of 25:28.0. He gathered to make a strong finish to place in the top 20.

Next was senior Ian Paul, who placed 28th overall, clocking in at 25:43.2 to represent the second runner to cross for JCU.

Sophomore Sam Su continued his progression of being in the top three for the Blue Streaks as he would place 49th overall with a time of 25:59.3.

To round up the scoring, sophomore Joey Naiman (26:07.7) and Phil Coury (26:11.6) placed 62nd and 72nd respectively.

Chuck Reigrut found his way into the top seven once again for the Blue Streaks as he placed 83rd overall with a time of 26:17.5.

Making his cross country debut this year, Charlie Payne was the seventh runner to finish for JCU, placing 145th overall, clocking in at 26:47.4.

In a Division III field, this was a good test for the men as they will be back on this course in six weeks for the NCAA Regional Championships.

Next up for the team will be the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday, October 18th at the Oberlin College North Fields - Cross Country Course.
