Blue Streaks End Regular Season on a High Note

Fredonia, NY - The John Carroll volleyball team concludes the regular season with a strong showing at Fredonia University with a 3-0 victory over RIT and a 3-1 win against Fredonia. 

RIT 

John Carroll took care of business and won 25-18, 25-15, 25-19.The first set saw some back and forth action early on, but JCU rattled off seven-straight points to build a 18-7 edge.

The second set followed an almost identical script, but it was more impressive. Holding a 10-9 advantage, the Blue and Gold would score the next 10 points. 

In the final set, the RIT battled back, but JCU put together another big run. This time, the score was tied 4-4 and JCU scored 10-straight and cruised to the sweep. 

Deja Whitten led the way with seven kills, while Mary Kate Sheehan and Lauren Khoenle each had six. Tess Humphrey had 15 assists and and Haley Nicholson tallied 12 of her own. 

Fredonia

The second match JCU would take care of the hosts by winning 25-18, 25-22, 27-29, 25-12. The Blue Devils would not allow JCU to rip off long run, but the Blue and Gold would tally three or four-straight points multiple times. 

In the third set, the Blue Devils showed fight and battled back after being down by seven points and forcing a fourth set. 

JCU would not entertain a fifth set, as the Blue Streaks would cruise to a victory in the final set. Natalie Glowe was unstoppable as the Kirtland native recorded 17 kills. Humphrey was on fire by dishing out 25 assists.  

With the non conference sweep the Blue and Gold set their focus on the upcoming NCAC tournament where JCU will play the winner of #6 Kenyon or #3 Ohio Wesleyan on Friday night at 5 p.m. 

Earlier in the season, JCU took care of both OWU and Kenyon by winning in four sets against each team.
