Men's Tennis Stumbles at Ohio Northern

The Blue Streaks lost to the defending OAC champs

Box Score ADA -- In a rematch of last year's Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, John Carroll Men's Tennis fell short.

Ohio Northern University notched a resounding 7-0 win, dealing John Carroll its first conference defeat of the season.

The contest began with a difficult sweep in doubles. Luis Wentz and Griffin Millspaugh lost at #2 doubles, 6-3, while Jack Sigler and Phillip Gorun dropped #3, 6-2. The top bout proved to be a close thriller.

In a down-to-the-wire contest that required a tiebreaker, Anthony Markello and Dylan Westmeyer experienced a tough 7-6 (7-4) defeat.

Sigler's #6 singles match ended first in a 6-1, 6-0 loss. Millspaugh fell next at #3, 6-3, 6-0. And then, ONU clinched the contest with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Wentz at #5.

Westmeyer lost a narrow battle at #2, 6-3, 6-4. Gorun then dropped a 7-5, 6-2 fight at #4. And finally, Markello accepted a 6-4, 7-5 loss at #1 singles.

Weather permitting, JCU will make its home debut vs. Grove City on Tuesday at the Short Family Tennis Center.
