Dylan Westmeyer Selected as OAC Athlete of the Week

The JCU Men's Tennis star helped JCU get past Grove City last week

WESTERVILLE – For the first time this season, John Carroll Men's Tennis can boast an Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.

Last Tuesday, the Blue Streaks earned a hard-fought 5-2 non-conference victory against Grove City. One of the architects of that win has been honored.

Dylan Westmeyer is the OAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

The graduate student was the epitome of John Carroll's gritty win. The Green, Ohio native won his opening set at #2 singles, 6-4, before faltering in the second set, 3-6. But in the tiebreaking third set, Westmeyer got the job done in a 6-2 conquest. The

Westmeyer, pursuing his Master's of Sports Leadership, also did strong work in doubles play. The veteran combined with Anthony Markello for a 6-2 victory at #1 doubles. 

With this honor in hand, Westmeyer and the Blue Streaks prepare for the final week of the regular season. John Carroll will head to Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday and host Otterbein on Friday to complete the regular-season campaign.
