Men’s Track & Field Competes Mid-Week At The Walsh Invitational

Men's Track & Field Competes At Walsh Invitational Hosted By The University Of Mount Union
ALLIANCE, Ohio – This past Thursday, April 24th, the Blue Streaks traveled to Alliance, Ohio for the Walsh University Invitational at Kehres Stadium hosted by the University of Mount Union.

With just one week away from the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the men are now putting the finishing touches on the outdoor season before they head into championship competition.

To get the day started, in the field events, first year Troy Buehner would make an appearance in the men's shot put and place 12th overall with a mark of 12.84 meters. 

In the men's discus throw, sophomore Moose Frombach would record a new personal best of 41.67 meters, placing 13th overall in the event. 

Senior Luke Frazier would make his second appearance in the men's high jump and win the event with a mark of 1.95 meters, followed by first year Julius Kimbrough, who would record a new personal best of 1.95 meters. Sophomore Jeremy Frazao would place in the top 10, earning a mark of 1.85 meters. 

Sophomore Joe Weatherspoon Jr. would also record a new personal best in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.57 meters, placing seventh overall for the Blue Streaks. 

Shifting to the running events, first year Joey Naiman would get things started as he would place fourth overall in the men's steeplechase, clocking in at 10:46.00. 

The men's 1500 meter run was an exciting one as senior Jett Wieber (3:56.17) and first year Sam Su (3:56.20) would lead for the Blue Streaks, running to new personal bests for themselves. Sophomore Nate Julien would also run to a new personal best in the second heat of the event, running 3:59.70 to place eighth overall. 

In the men's 400 meter dash, junior Brody Hanlon would place seventh overall with a time of 50.52 seconds, followed by sophomore Tim Herczog, who would place ninth overall, finishing with a time of 50.81 seconds. Herczog would also run a new personal best in the 200 meter dash, running 22.75 seconds. Brendan Root (51.26 seconds) and Jack Arnold (51.58 seconds) would also record new personal bests in the event. 

Lastly, in the men's 800 meter run, senior Michael Hvizdos would be the first Blue Streak runner to cross the finish line, running 1:55.83 to place 16th overall. Sophomore Josh Ackerman would place 21st, finishing with a time of 1:56.90. 

The men will now prepare for next week as they will travel to Wilmington, Ohio for the 2025 OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Wilmington College on Thursday to Friday, May 1st-2nd. Meet  information and preview will be posted the week of the championship meet.
