PITTSBURGH – For the second time in three days, John Carroll Volleyball earned a sweep win.
The Blue Streaks crept above .500 with a road victory, advancing to 5-4 on the season by virtue of a 3-0 triumph at Chatham College.Â
JCU won by set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-13.Â
John Carroll got out to a hot start, firing up a 10-5 lead before Chatham called a timeout. The Blue Streaks never relinquished the advantage, taking advantage of Cougars errors while playing smart. JCU secured a 25-18 win to start.Â
The visitors rebounded with a nice opening in the second set, to the tune of a 6-2 score. JCU responded by finding a groove with Natalie Glowe serving, sneaking ahead, 10-8 with a 7-point run. Things stayed even until 13-13 when JCU went on a 5-2 run, leading to a Chatham timeout. But the break could not stem the tide, as the visitors continued the onslaught to win the set easily, 25-18. A whopping 11 Chatham attack errors buried the visitors.Â
In the third set, JCU's offense intensified its efforts, with an impressive .364 hitting percentage. Back-to-back-to-back Glowe kills down the stretch put the Blue Streaks in position to win, and a Brooke Conlan kill completed the day.Â
Glowe topped the team with 10 kills, followed by Grace Jones with seven. Tess Humphrey and Haley Nicholson split the assists with 10 apiece. Olivia Mogyordy led the defense with 21 digs.Â
