Men's Cross Country Earns Second Place In Division III, Fifth Overall At All-Ohio Classic

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – It was a perfect day for some cross country racing for the Blue Streaks.

The men's cross country team would take advantage as they would earn a top five overall team finish at the All-Ohio Classic, scoring a total of 158 points.

Looking at the team results overall, the Cedarville Yellow Jackets would take home the meet title, as well as the Division II Championship, earning 65 points.

The Otterbein Cardinals would be your Division III Champion with 133 points, earning a fourth place finish overall.

Team Results - Overall

Leading for the men in his first race of his sophomore campaign was Sam Su as he would clock in placing 11th overall with a time of 25:10.0. Su would become your Division III individual champion, being the first athlete to cross the finish line amongst all competitors.

Next up would be junior Nate Julien as he would place 31st with a time of 25:42.7, becoming the Blue Streaks' second runner.

Not too far behind was senior Ian Paul, running 25:46.4 to place 35th overall for the team.

Rounding up the top five were Joey Naiman (25:47.5) and Chuck Reigrut (26:00.3) placing 40th and 54th respectively.

Looking at the sixth and seventh guys who represented JCU, junior Phil Coury would also make his season debut for the Blue Streaks placing 65th overall with a time of 26:14.4. Junior Chris Whiting came in next as he would secure an 85th place finish with a time of 26:35.5.

It was a good step in the right direction for the group as they will now look towards their next opportunity in two weeks.

The Blue Streaks will return for their third race of the season at the Louisville Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 4th.
