Blue Streaks Drop Battle Against #8 Chicago

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO – The John Carroll women's soccer team dropped its first match since September 3rd, as the University of Chicago came into Don Shula Stadium and won 4-0.

The Blue Streaks came into the match winning five-straight games and outscoring their opponents 14-1 in that timeframe. The Maroons came into the game ranked #8 in the country and held a clean record of 7-0-1.

After the loss, John Carroll moves to 6-3-1 overall and completes its non-conference schedule and gears up for its first season as a new member of the NCAC.

In the first minute of the action, Emily Patrzyk stepped in front of a pass a in Maroon territory and took a rip at the net, but was slightly off target.

The Maroons scored first in the 15th minute as, Jamie Nguyen was able to slip a shot right past Madison Skeese. Chicago added another impressive goal in the in the 26th minute following a deflection from the JCU defense.

JCU trailed 2-0 heading into the half, as Chicago held a 9-2 edge on total shots. Skeese was tough in net recording three saves.

The second half followed a similar script as John Carroll was unable to find the back of the net, while Chicago put together two quick goals in the 55th and 57th minute.

Lola Hall appeared in net for 19 minutes of action and accumulated two saves. 

Next up, John Carroll will start NCAC play as DePauw University comes town for an 11:05 a.m. start time next Saturday October 4th.
