Women's Basketball Sets New Highwater Mark for Points in Monday Night Rout

The Blue Streaks fired past Pitt-Bradford as the whole team contributed on the stat sheet

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – A 3-game homestand this week opened on a historic note for John Carroll Women's Basketball.

The Blue Streaks poured in a program-record 112 points in a wire-to-wire victory at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center on Monday night.

The 112-41 victory marks the eighth straight for JCU, as the #2 Blue Streaks advance to 13-1 on the season.

A whopping 16 players contributed to the score, with a total of 18 players getting court time. In fact, 72 of JCU's 112 points were scored by players off the bench.

The top scorer tonight was one of the Streak who is not a typical starter. Bella Houillion notched an impressive season-high 17 points, adding 9 rebounds in a great overall effort. Graci Semptimphelter and Carmen Heuker both did nice work with 12 points, with Reese Rhodehamel doing nice work with 11 points, too.

John Carroll roared for 31 points in the opening quarter to begin the rout, with five 3-pointers in the first quarter helping the hosts to pull away early.

The Blue & Gold drove to the hoop with ease all night and dominated in transition. JCU scored 60 points in the paint and 41 fast-break points. The hosts boxed out quite well, with a season-best 25 offensive rebounds. A total of 17 steals also marked a season high for JCU. For one more season best, JCU converted on 16 free throws.
