Montgomery is the first Blue Streak chosen to play in the Senior Bowl in recent memory

MOBILE, Ala. – John Carroll's standout wideout has been selected to be a member of the Panini Senior Bowl.

After an outstanding season, wide receiver Tyren Montgomery is ready to go for the Panini Senior Bowl on Saturday, January 31 at 2:30 pm on the NFL Network. The selection was announced not long after Montgomery starred in the American Bowl on Thursday.

Montgomery enjoyed a remarkable season in University Heights leading the Blue Streaks in receiving yards with 1,528 (ranked 2nd in NCAA Division III). The Texas native received D3football.com 1st Team All American, AFCA 2nd Team All American, and AP 2nd Team All American honors. The graduate student also holds the JCU career receiving yards record with 2,599 and JCU single season reception record with 119.

After an exemplary season with the Blue Streaks, the graduate wide receiver was selected to play in the American Bowl on January 22. Montgomery impressed the NFL scouts and was selected to participate in the Panini Senior Bowl.

The Panini Senior Bowl is the premier college all star football game that showcases top NFL prospects and is the first step in the NFL draft process.

Montgomery is hoping to be John Carroll's first NFL Draft pick since 1991, when Larry Wanke was drafted to the New York Giants as the 334th pick as Mr. Irrelevant.
