LIGONIER, Penn. – Amongst a packed field of powerful contenders, John Carroll Men's Golf faced its toughest test of the season at the Tartan Invitational.

The Blue Streaks finished sixth on the leaderboard at Laurel Valley Golf Club.

The tournament marked the first of the season not won by the JCU A Team, as the Blue Streaks fell behind national title contenders. JCU finished with a line of 298-292-304-894. The teams played two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday.

Wade Boyle began the tournament with high energy, finding five birdies in his first round and ending with a 71. The Greensburg native maintained a steady scorecard, but struggled to find that same rhythm, ending his next rounds with a 75 and a 77 to tie for 16th place.

Daniel Donahue opened with a four-over-par score in the first 18, logging three birdies. A pair of birdies on No. 6-7 helped him log a one-over-par 73 in the second round. On Tuesday, the Pittsburgher guided the Blue Streaks with a two-over-par tally. For the event, the veteran tied with Boyle.

Austin Malley took some time to warm up on Monday, opening with an 81 before doing his best work in the second round. The Venetia, Pennsylvania native tabbed the best round of any JCU golfer this weekend, carding a two-under-par score of 70, aided by a trio of birdies. The senior also registered three birdies on Tuesday, but bogeys dropped him to a four-over-par final round.

Justy VonLehmden nabbed a nice three-over-par score for starters. In his second round on Monday, the star soared with five birdies, though a handful of bogeys dragged him down in a still strong round of 73. A difficult round of 79 dropped him in the rankings on Tuesday.

Although Kamden Mowry battled throughout his rounds, the senior carded an eagle at hole three in his final round en route to a 77. The senior provided JCU's final counting score with a four-over-par 76 in the first round and he recorded an 80 in the second round.
