The junior starred for JCU Women's Soccer with two shutouts

CLEVELAND – Starting the conference season with two shutouts is a difficult feat, but Madison Skeese rose to the challenge.

Last week, John Carroll Women's Soccer faced their first two conference opponents. In a 0-0 tie against Denison, and a 3-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan, Skeese was the brick wall.

Skeese is the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week for women's soccer.

Skeese is in the midst of a marvelous junior year as a Blue Streak. The Pataskala native has risen to the challenge of becoming the starting keeper, a position previously held by Madison Martin.

With strong communication between the team, Skeese has been able to lead the team to remain afloat at the start of conference action.

In the previous match against the Battling Bishops, Skeese stayed on her toes with quick fire shots coming at her partway through the first half of action. Recording eight saves in the match, Skeese was able to stay strong and not let one pass her.

When facing Denison, a favorite in the preseason coaches poll, it was not an easy game. Skeese was able to track and secure 7 saves for the Blue Streaks in the tie.

For the season, Skeese has now recorded four shutouts on the season so far, and she doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Skeese and the Blue Streaks continue their conference play, as JCU comes back home to University Heights to take on Oberlin on Saturday, October 17.
