Men's Soccer Falters at OWU in NCAC Road Loss

The Blue Streaks still stand fourth in the NCAC standings

DELAWARE, Ohio – Playing at Ohio Wesleyan is typically not easy, and that held true on Saturday night.

John Carroll Men's Soccer stumbled at the Battling Bishops in North Coast Athletic Conference action, 2-0.

But even amidst a second loss in as many games, John Carroll still remains very much in the driver's seat for a spot in the tournament, sitting in fourth place in the standings.

The teams traded chances in the first half, but nothing came out of the first 45 minutes. Each team tallied 3 shots, with OWU getting one on net, which Bryce Sampson turned away.

In the 59th minute, the Battling Bishops found an opening on the left flank. A through ball up the left side found Brady Catanzarite, who beat the keeper for the game's first goal.

JCU tried to respond but did not get much on net. One scramble near the net looked promising but the Battling Bishops' wall stood strong.

The Battling Bishops got the insurance goal late in the match in the 87th minute. After winning a 50/50 ball, some crisp passing got the ball into the JCU box. A falling Battling Bishop slotted a short pass for Catanzarite, who buried it for a brace.
