Guided by medalist Julia Gulla, the Blue Streaks ended the fall with a title

LAGRANGE & HINCKLEY, Ohio – Gorgeous fall weather gave way to a beautiful result to end the season for the Blue Streaks.

John Carroll Women's Golf ended the fall part of the campaign in a great way. The Blue Streaks won Baldwin Wallace's Cleveland Cup on Sunday and Monday.

The Blue Streaks posted a score of 328 in the first round at Grey Hawk Golf Club on Sunday. In the second round at Pine Hills Golf Club, JCU shot a 337 to fire onto first place over second-place Mount Union.

Results

Wooster finished in third and host Baldwin Wallace finished fourth. JCU's Gold Team tabbed sixth. Muskingum and Mount Union's "B" Team rounded out the results at seventh and eighth.

Julia Gulla excelled in leading the Blue Streaks, winning the medalist trophy by an easy eight strokes. The sophomore shined in the opening round, with a fantastic eagle on No. 1. A birdie on No. 11 helped her fire up a three-over-par 75 for the start. A pair of birdies on No. 1 and No. 8 kept her steady in the second round, earning a 78.

Gulla loves playing in the fall, and it shows, as the Nordonia grad always posts great results like these.

Chloe Horton has also come on strong this season. The junior registered a birdie on No. 1 on Sunday. Then on Monday, JCU's No. 2 ended the busy two days with back-to-back birdies on No. 10-11 to finish with an 81. She tied for third.

Hannah Prince performed aptly with a birdie on just her second hole of the tournament on No. 11 at Grey Hawk. Both days, the Spencerport, New York native carded an 85.

Kyah Huckleberry also birdied No. 11 on Sunday, though it was her final hole as she finished with an 85. While the sophomore cooled off some in the second round, she hit par on her final three holes, very importantly. She tied for 11th place overall.

Tess Gibel rounded out the "A" Team with an 89 in the first round. In the second round, Gibel showed grit in hitting par on her last three.

Looking at the team's effort as a whole, coming back from down 10 strokes at one point on Monday and firing back for the victory is impressive. The Blue Streaks certainly provided a great end to the fall.

Meanwhile, the JCU Gold Team also competed well.

Lauren Roof stood atop the team with a final tally of 91-95. She tied for 23rd.

Madison Maxwell and Erin McCaffrey both tied for 24th. McCaffrey registered a line of 88-99, while Maxwell tabbed a final scorecard 93-94, highlighted by a birdie on No. 1 on Sunday.

Alexandra Yaeger (99-100) and Cameron Gerlica (95-110) rounded out the squad.
