CLEVELAND - For the first time this season, John Carroll Volleyball can claim a weekly conference award from the North Coast Athletic Conference. 

Mary Kate Sheehan earned her first NCAC Athlete of the Week crown for JCU Volleyball.

The senior enjoyed three excellent efforts as John Carroll notched three non-conference wins this past week. This includes victories over the top two teams in the PAC standings in Hiram College and Franciscan University.

Sheehan notched 18 kills in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Case Western Reserve, 13 kills in a 3-2 win over Hiram, and 10 kills to finish off the weekend in a 3-0 sweep of Franciscan. 

Just this week alone, Sheehan had an impressive .430 hitting percentage. Along with that, Sheehan ranks 5th in NCAC hitting percentage at .321. Sheehan is currently ranked top-15 in the NCAC in a pair of other stats. She stands 11th in kills per set with 2.61 and 11th in blocks with 0.70 per set. 

Mary Kate and the Blue Streaks will be facing Wittenberg University this Wednesday in an important NCAC matchup, a rematch of last year's tournament title match.
