CLEVELAND – The bar has been set high for John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving.
After just one meet, the Blue Streaks have the first weekly honoree of the season.
Audrey Sevald is the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the week for women's swimming.
The junior helped JCU leap out to a big lead in the eventual win over Heidelberg. Sevald kicked off the 400 Medley Relay with a back split of 1:00.11. The JCU A team won the event with a time of 4:04.60.
In the 100 Backstroke later, Sevald scored another strong time, clocking in at 1:00.37 for the victory.
To round out the day, Sevald touched the wall in 56.36 in the third leg of the 400 Free Relay, helping the JCU A squad finish with the fastest time (3:49.64).
Sevald figures to be a critical cog of the team all season, with her first career athlete of the week award perhaps serving as a springboard to big things.
