The Blue Streaks enjoyed some great moments in the DeCarlo Center at the JCU Tri-Meet

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – In the final two duals of the regular season, John Carroll Men's Wrestling excelled.

The Blue Streaks conquered a pair of foes in the JCU Tri-Meet in a pair of victories that featured dramatic endings.

John Carroll notched a 34-11 rivalry win over Mount Union and a 26-18 win over RIT.

Here's how JCU won two straight duals leading up to Saturday's JCU Open.

Brett Stanley opened the evening for JCU with a hard-earned 5-2 decision at 125. Ty Daugherty also went the distance in a 4-2 conquest at 133.

Adom Sharpley stayed on a roll with 13-2 major decision at 141. Kyle Bizjak roared for an early pin following at 149, opening up a 16-0 lead for JCU.

Three straight losses for JCU, including a heartbreaker at 174, slimmed the margin to jus five with three matches to go.

Wills Bronson and Bear Horgan stepped up in big ways at 184 and 197. Each strong Streak claimed pin wins, wrapping up a great triumph for JCU. For good measure, Thomas Lunt tabbed a pin late in the second period at heavyweight.

The hosts again opened up a dominant lead against RIT.

Stanley fired out of the gates aggressively in a 13-5 major decision. Daugherty then picked up a decision win (his seventh straight).

The most exciting match of the night happened at 141. Sharpley fought tooth and nail through seven minutes of regulation to a 5-5 tie. The first year's conditioning proved to be the difference maker, as the Solon native attacked in the sudden victory period and scored a takedown, drawing plenty of applause from the crowd.

RIT roared back from the 15-0 deficit, though. The Tigers won three straight matches to make it much more interesting at 15-12.

Enter Wills Bronson. The veteran righted the ship with a monumental pin at 3:46 at 184. And Horgan slammed the door shut with a clinical 16-1 tech fall at 197.

While RIT's star heavyweight ended the night by handing JCU a loss, the Blue Streaks still won with room to spare.
