Blue Streaks Break Three School Records, Highlighting Trips To Boston University & Tufts

BOSTON & MEDFORD, MA – It was a big weekend of competition for the women's track & field team as they traveled to their most competitive meet of the indoor season.

This past Friday and Saturday, the Blue Streaks competed in one of the deepest fields in track & field history at Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invite. 

The group also ran a distance medley relay at the Tufts Cupid Challenge hosted by Tufts University in Medford. 

Two school records were broken, marking another historical weekend weekend for the women as they earned new national marks, as well as another conference qualification at Youngstown State University.

Dakota ran her third-fastest 200 meter dash this indoor season, placing 13th overall at BU.

Sandra was .03 seconds away from breaking her own school record in the 400 meter dash, running 57.66 to place 23rd overall in the race. 

Senior Alyssa Vis breaks the school record in the mile with a time of 4:58.05 to move up in the national rankings as she is now 35th in Division III. She broke Abby Schroff's previous record of 5:01.54 from two years ago. 

Another school record broken was in the 3000 meter run as senior Abby Schroff ran 10:00.85 to earn her second career school record indoors. 

Making her sophomore indoor debut this past Friday was Anne Rea at the YSU Last Chance Meet. She ran 18:36.41 to place fifth overall in the 5000 meter run and earn herself a spot into the conference championships in two weeks.

Both Schroff and Vis would later return for the distance medley relay, joining both Morgan Dobos and Sandra King. They ran 12:02.63, converting to 11:54.97; propelling them to fourth in Division III. 

Last, but not least, the women's 4x400 meter relay of Dakota Houston, Paige Munchick, Sandra King, and Rosie Murray broke the school record with a time of 3:54.26. The previous record has been held since 2018. 

It was a historic weekend for the Blue Streaks and one to remember as they will now prepare for the next two weeks with the conference championships just around the corner. 

Next up for the women's track & field program will be another split squad weekend as they will travel to the Silverston Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan and Case Western Reserve University for the Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite on Friday, February 20th. 

Also taking place Saturday to Sunday, February 21-22 will be the NCAC Combined Events hosted by the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio to start conference championship week.
