In the pre-championship poll announced by the NCAC last Wednesday, the men were ranked first with 77 points and six first place votes, while the women were slated second with 59 points and four first place votes.

Both the men and women have earned top finishes throughout the years of being in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Looking at last year's performances at the indoor championships in the OAC, the men finished fourth overall, scoring 102 points and the women finished third overall with 154 points.

The program will look to make history this weekend as the men will look to earn their first conference championship crown since 2003. The last time the women won indoors was back in 2021.

Throughout the season, both sides have made stellar progress in their performances, ranging from high conference marks to NCAA rankings.

Looking at the men's side, they will have experience to lean on for the conference championships.

Senior Basheer Alramahi will make his final appearance at the indoor conference championship meet. At last year's OAC indoor meet, Basheer became the 500 meter dash champion, while also breaking the NCAA Division III National Record with a time of 1:02.64.

Joining alongside Basheer will be senior Tyler Gast as he has had plenty of success at the conference level. Gast is ranked in the top five in three events in the NCAC and will look to continue his consistency throughout the indoor season.

First year Isaiah Travlee has made a tremendous impact for the Blue Streaks this year, being ranked third in the 60 meter dash.
Earning a top mark in the 400 meter dash from last week was Tony Tirado as he will look to be a major contributor in the sprinting events as well.

On the distance side, Sam Su has an impressive indoor campaign for the Blue Streaks this year. He currently leads the conference in the mile with a time of 4:08.55 and the 3000 meter run with his time of 8:27.15.

Seniors Ian Paul and Max Grillo have made their marks, especially in the 800 meter run. Grillo is ranked third (1:53.71) and Paul is sixth (1:55.12).

Another distance runner who has made an impact is junior Chris Whiting. The West Geauga graduate has earned new personal bests in the mile and 3000 meter run this season and will look to carry over his momentum going into the conference championships.

In the field events, Troy Buehner and Cole Mayer will represent JCU in the shot put and weight throw. Both have made strides in their performances throughout the year and will look to score valuable points for the Blue Streaks, as well as Moose Frombach.

Jordon Rodman is another one to keep an eye on as he broke the school record in the triple jump at the beginning of the month and will look to earn a high finish this upcoming weekend.

On the women's side, they bring back some pieces that have competed at the conference championships and have been successful.

Sophomore Dakota Houston will hope to add to her stellar resume. From earning All-Conference honors to becoming the "Sprinter Athlete of the Meet" at last year's OAC Championships, Houston will look to help bring a conference crown to University Heights.

Another sophomore who has contributed heavily to the women's success is Sandra King, coming in ranked second overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.63 seconds.

Senior Paige Munchick has been key in the sprinters' success as well contributing to a school record finish in the women's 4x400 meter relay at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invite a couple of weeks ago. She will also be another to look out for.

Looking at the distance events, senior Abby Schroff will look to continue her success at the conference level and add to her impressive resume indoors. Schroff is currently first in both the 3000 and 5000 meter runs, as well as second in the mile.

Ranked in the top three in two events including the mile and the 800 meter run is senior Alyssa Vis. Alyssa has been an integral part of the Blue Streaks success on the track.

Coming off of a historical cross country season, senior Morgan Dobos is back in the conference championships and comes in ranked second in both the 5000 and 3000 meter runs.
In the field events, seniors Sara Hart and Breanna Berwald will be representing the Blue Streaks in the shot put and weight throw events and will look to score some major points in that area.

The duo of Tori Miller and Aniela Balog are ranked second and third in the triple jump as well.

Coach Daniel Tutskey, Director of Cross Country/Track & Field at John Carroll University and his staff are looking forward to what's to come for this group as they now compete in the first NCAC Championship meet in program history.

The meet is set to begin tomorrow (Friday, February 27th) with the field events starting first at 12:00 PM and the track events to follow at 2:30 PM.
