Women's Tennis Cruises to 6-1 Victory Over Oberlin College

Box Score OBERLIN, OH. - The John Carroll women's tennis team took care of business on a sunny Sunday afternoon by defeating Oberlin College 6-1. 

John Carroll has now won four-straight matches, including back-to-back North Coast Athletic Conference victories. 

The Blue and Gold started off by earning a point in doubles, as the duo of Maddie Kavenagh and Evelyn Deren cruised to a 6-1 victory. In the second doubles it was a hard-fought win for Felicity Kolb and Emma Smith, as the tandem won 7-5 and clinched the point for JCU.

Switching over to singles action, JCU showed its strengths from all positions. In the #1 singles, Kavenagh battled in the first set to win 6-4 and then 6-2 in the second set. 

Deren had no issues in the second singles winning 6-0, 6-1. Kolb earned the clinching point winning 6-3, 6-1. 

Madi Davila also cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in #5 singles. 

The tightest match came in fourth singles as Smith battled against Rachel Allen of Oberlin. Smith dominated in the first set winning 6-0. Allen would battle in the second set and win 7-5. In the tie breaking set Smith won 1-0, tiebreaker 10-8. 


The Blue and Gold will be back in action next Saturday taking on former conference foe Otterbein College, with a start time to be announced.
