The JCU trio has powered the Blue Streaks to the NCAA Tournament

CLEVELAND – A trio of star senior student-athletes who guided John Carroll Women's Basketball in the program's successful first season in the North Coast Athletic Conference have garnered recognition.

Each member of the trio is a repeat customer, as all three have been as consistent as they come over the past two seasons.

Ava Ryncarz leads the way with First Team All-NCAC status, Graci Semptimphelter follows on the Second Team, and Carly Perusek rounds things out on the Third Team.

Ryncarz has enjoyed another prolific season for the Blue & Gold. The senior tops the team with 14.5 points per game, ranking fourth in the NCAC. The Aurora native has done much of her damage from downtown, leading the NCAC and ranking fifth in NCAA Division III in 3-pointers (83). Her 3-point per game average of 2.96 also ranks eighth in the nation. Through 28 games, Ryncarz has notched 7.2 rebounds per game, leading the team and rating third in the conference.

Looking at Ryncarz's career stats, the veteran stands eighth all time in scoring with 1,473 points, just 22 points from surpassing Hall of Famer Darlene Sheehan (1,494 from 1991-95). Earlier this season, Ryncarz became the career triples leader, now standing far above in first with 242 makes. Additionally, Ryncarz has 749 career rebounds, two away from surpassing her head coach, Beth Andrews, for sixth all-time (Andrews' career 338 offensive rebounds record is still safe, though). And don't forget that Ryncarz set the single-game program record for 3-pointers with 10 back in December.

Graci Semptimphelter has provided a reliable 3-point threat for John Carroll all season long. A starter for all 28 games, the senior has shot the lights out this season, hitting 3-pointers at a 43% clip. That mark ranks first in the conference and eighth in NCAA Division III, as well as fifth in program history at the moment. The Tennessean is a sneaky rebounder, too, averaging 4.1 per game, including 19 boards in the NCAC Tournament.

An effective player on all parts of the court, the Ohio Wesleyan transfer has 55 assists and 43 steals. The dynamic shooting guard is also elite from the free throw line, converting at an 85.4% clip, currently seventh in single-season program history. A year ago, Semptimphelter was an honorable mention All-OAC pick.

Carly Perusek has thrived this season as the team's top post player, the Beaumont grad is a critical cog on both ends of the floor for John Carroll. Perusek averages 9.6 points per game, including eight games in double figures vs. conference opponents. The senior stars with 6.6 rebounds per game for JCU.

The Willoughby Hills native provides size and athleticism in the paint for John Carroll. Her defensive acumen is particularly helpful for JCU, as Perusek leads the team in both steals (55) and blocked shots (16).
