Women's Tennis Blanked at #8 Carnegie Mellon

The Blue Streaks competed in a couple close matches

PITTSBURGH -- In a match geared towards preparing for the postseason, John Carroll Women's Tennis got good reps against a strong opponent.

The Blue Streaks traveled to Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon for a bout against #7 Carnegie Mellon.

The Tartans proved to be too much for JCU, though the #58 Blue Streaks battled in a 7-0 defeat.

The hosts swept the doubles matches, though JCU did not get shutout in any of the three contests. Evelyn Deren and Maddie Kavenagh put up quite the fight, falling just short, 4-6. Felicit Kolb and Morgan Dobos also made it interesting, 3-6.

Kavenagh's #2 singles match proved to be a pitched battle, as the veteran dropped a 5-7, 5-7 showdown. Dobos almost forced a third set at #3. Emma Smith experienced a narrow defeat at #5 singles, as after a 4-6 set one loss, she forced a tiebreaker in the second set, which she dropped 1-7.
