Women’s Track & Field Leads With 54 Points After Day One Of NCAC Outdoor Championships

GAMBIER, Ohio – It was a fantastic start for the women's track & field program this afternoon.

After scoring a total of 54 points, the Blue Streaks currently lead the 2026 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, highlighted by several key performances and securing three individual titles. 

From making out of a preliminary round to scoring major points, the women will look to continue their momentum going into the second day of competition.

Here are the athletes who have scored for the team and have advanced through the preliminary rounds to tomorrow's finals:

The women's 10000 meter run would start the day as Abby Schroff claimed her first individual title, crossing the finish line with a time of 38:09.39. Anne Rea (38:09.60) and Cassie Klein (38:27.30) followed and were able to help score a combined 21 points for the group. 

Shifting to the field events, sophomore Dakota Houston continued her success in the long jump, earning another individual championship with a mark of 5.61 meters. 

Houston will also be competing in the 100 and 200 meter dash finals after her preliminary performances in both events, earning times of 11.85 and 24.28 seconds. 

Senior Leah Fritsch earned her first title in the javelin throw with a mark of 38.50 meters to score another 10 points for the Blue Streaks. 

Three athletes have advanced to the finals in the 400 meter dash including Sandra King (57.33), Paige Munchick (58.56), and Aya Alramahi (1:00.16).

King and Munchick will also move on to tomorrow's finals in the 200 meter dash.

Sophomore Natalie Chryst earns a spot in the final, running 2:18.73 in the 800 meter run. 

To conclude the day, senior Sydney Wingler earned some major points for the group after placing fifth overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:28.02, which is also a new personal best.

The Blue Streaks will return tomorrow for day two of the 2026 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Kenyon College. Field events are set to begin at 10:00am, followed by the track events starting at 2:30pm.
