Dakota Houston’s 200 Meter Dash Preliminary Performance Headlines First Day Of NCAAs

LA CROSSE, WI. – The women's track & field team started off NCAAs with one individual advancing to Saturday's final. 

The 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships kicked off today at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Sophomore Dakota Houston started off the meet on a high note as she broke her own school record in the 200 meter dash prelim with a time of 23.84 seconds to place fifth overall, while placing second in the first heat.

Not long after, the women's 4x400 meter relay prelim made their way onto the track and placed 15th overall, just missing out on the final, running 3:52.62. 

The relay consisted of Dakota Houston, Paige Munchick, Rosie Murray, and Sandra King.

This same relay will look to get redemption, returning for the 4x100 meter prelim tomorrow, as well as a couple of individuals in open events. 

It will be a big day for the women tomorrow as they will now look to regroup and get more qualifiers to run in the finals on Saturday.

Next Up
The women's 4x100 meter relay of Murray, Houston, Munchick, and King will compete at 3:00pm (CDT) in the preliminary round, followed by Sandra King in the 400 meter dash prelim at 4:50pm (CDT) and Dakota Houston in the 100 meter dash prelim at 5:20pm (CDT). This will all take place tomorrow (Friday, May 22nd).
