Daniel Tutskey Wins USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Coach Of The Year Award For The First Time In His JCU Coaching Career
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH. – The 2026 outdoor season for the men's track & field program continues to be recognized.

Daniel Tutskey, Director of Cross Country/Track & Field at John Carroll University has won the 2026 USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Men's Coach of the Year after a successful campaign for him and his coaching staff.

This afternoon, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their postseason regional awards for outdoor track & field with Tutskey winning the award for the first time in his coaching career at JCU.

At the 2026 NCAC Outdoor Championships, the men won their first conference championship since 2002, earning a total of 164 points with 12 athletes securing All-NCAC status and two winning individual titles.

After helping the men to earn 16 USTFCCCA All-Region performances, the seven qualifiers who qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships all earned All-American honors in their respective events.

These athletes included Sam Su (1500 Meter Run), Tyler Gast (400 Meter Dash & 4x400 Meter Relay), Basheer Alramahi (400 Meter Dash & 4x400 Meter Relay), Tony Tirado (4x400 Meter Relay), and Jack Arnold (4x400 Meter Relay). This led to a 12th place finish overall with 17 points scored for the Blue Streaks.

In their first year in the North Coast Athletic Conference, Tutskey and his staff coached the men to winning two conference championships, top 15 finishes at NCAAs, and 34 All-Region performances in both cross country and track & field.

Back in March 2023, Daniel was recognized as the Great Lakes Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year when former Head Coach Kyle Basista was leading the program.

"It's an incredible honor to win this award and to be recognized by our peers," stated Tutskey. "This award is really about our men's team and what they accomplished this season. It's a team award, not an individual award."

Tutskey became the director of the program back in the Fall of 2024 and has continued to drive the program to reach new heights. This 2026 season will be remembered as historic with Daniel being recognized as one of the best coaches in the Great Lakes Region.
