Basheer Alramahi & Tyler Gast Awarded CSC First-Team Academic All-America Honors For 2025-2026 Season

Basheer Alramahi & Tyler Gast Named CSC First-Team Academic All-America For 2025-2026 Track & Field Campaigns

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – The senior duo continue their excellence in the classroom.

After being recognized for CSC Academic All-District® three weeks ago, (June 23rd), two seniors represent the Blue Streaks on the CSC Academic All-American ballot.

Announced by the College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA), Basheer Alramahi and Tyler Gast have been selected to the 2025-2026 Academic All-America® men's track & field/cross country teams. Both are recognized as first-team status.

This is Basheer's third first-team academic award of his career, while this will be Tyler's first time earning the recognition.

Both student-athletes had stellar campaigns for the Blue Streaks this year.

Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, Ohio) collected a total of four first-team All-American accolades this year in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in events including the 800 meter run, 4x400 meter relays, and the 400 meter dash.

This past March, Basheer became the first student-athlete in Division III history in the sport of track & field to win the NCAA Elite 90 Award for two consecutive seasons.

With his career coming to a close, Basheer has now become the most decorated athlete in the history of men's track & field at John Carroll University. His combined total of 13 first-team All-American accolades is the most in program history.

Tyler Gast (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) adds his first CSC Academic All-America award to his resume.

Gast ended his career on a high note, securing two individual All-American awards in the 400 meter dash and contributing to the 4x400 meter relays that also earned first-team All-American honors in both indoor and outdoor, helping the Blue Streaks to earn two top 12 finishes at the NCAA Championships.

He was also named to the 2026 NCAC Dr. Gordon Collins Academic Honor Roll and became a four-time USTFCCCA Academic All-American.

Both of these student-athletes have continued to raise the bar for the program and will leave a tremendous impact on the JCU community for their athletic and academic achievements.
