JCU Football Checks in at #8 in D3football.com Preseason Top 25

The Blue Streaks ended 2025 at #5 in the rankings

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – Any college coach would tell you that preseason rankings are just a number and mean nothing once the footballs fly in September. But the rankings are most definitely an important data point and set the stage for the season.

Entering the 2026 campaign, excitement surrounds the John Carroll Football program following a memorable 2025 season.

D3football.com rates John Carroll at #8 in the preseason Top 25 rankings. 

A year ago, the Blue Streaks ended the campaign at #5 in the D3football.com Top 25 after starting the season at #25. 

In 2025, the Blue Streaks enjoyed a historic campaign ending in the NCAA Division III Semifinal, just the third trip in the 100+ seasons of JCU Football. John Carroll ended the year with a 12-2 mark and a number of bigtime triumphs, including a win at #11/9 DePauw in the regular season and a victory over #2 Mount Union in the Third Round of the playoffs.

John Carroll graduated many studs on the offensive side of the ball, but brings back the entire starting offensive line along with plenty of stars in the defensive secondary. JCU offers ample talent at running back, linebacker, and many other positions. 

A new era is set to begin under first year Head Coach Brian Polian '97. The season commences with a road game at Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, September 5. The home opener will be under the lights vs. Kenyon on Saturday, September 19 at 6 pm.
