Cook, Florio, Kubis Heralded as CSCAA Scholar All-Americans

The JCU trio scoop up awards after thriving on the national scene this season

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – A trio of smart swimmers are among the nation's best and brightest. 

Three members of JCU Men's Swimming & Diving have garnered Scholar All-American status from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). 

Bart Kubis, Cameron Cook, and Jacob Florio are among the 2,230 swimmers and divers to make the CSCAA's Scholar All-American Team. Each of the three Blue Streaks snagged First Team recognition. 

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections, must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met an NIC "A" time standard in Division I or an NCAA "B" qualifying standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet for Division II, Division III, and NAIA.

Cameron Cook enjoyed a fantastic sophomore season for the Blue & Gold. The Communications major won his first All-American honor, grabbing second team All-American honors at the NCAA Championships. The Fredericksburg, Virginia native tallied All-North Coast Athletic Conference finishes in the 200 Free, 200 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay, and 200 Medley Relay.

Jacob Florio wowed the JCU faithful in his first year in University Heights. The Biology major punched his first ticket to the NCAA Championships, debuting in the 100 Backstroke (logging a time of 49.43, finishing 25th place in the prelims), 200 IM (notching a time of 1:49.73, good for 23rd place), and the 200 Backstroke (registering 17th in the prelims, just 0.06 away from the 16th place finisher). The North Royalton native starred at the NCAC Championships, with all-conference performances in the 100 Back, 200 Back, and 400 Medley Relay. 

Bart Kubis completed his junior year as an Economics major with flying colors. A College Sports Communicators Academic All-District pick, the Park Ridge, Illinois native lit up the pool. Kubis earned second team All-American honors in 100 Breaststroke and first team All-American honors in 200 Breaststroke at the NCAA Championships. Additionally, Kubis grabbed All-NCAC honors in the 200 Breaststroke (NCAC Champ) and 400 Medley Relay.

Student-athletes recognized on the 2026 CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America Team represented a wide range of academic disciplines, with STEM and health science majors accounting for the largest share of honorees, followed closely by business-related fields.
