John Carroll Athletics and RESN Set to Continue Partnership

The Blue Streaks will appear on Rock Entertainment Sports Network again this fall

CLEVELAND – The unique partnership between John Carroll Athletics and Rock Entertainment Sports Network (RESN) is set to expand this fall.

JCU and Gray Media have agreed to extend the partnership into the fall, featuring 15 Blue Streak games to air live on cable and over-the-air television on RESN and Cleveland's 43.

For a third straight year, John Carroll fans will be able to watch the Blue Streaks on TV. JCU Football, Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, Volleyball, and for the first time, JCU Field Hockey, will all be broadcast live across the state of Ohio.

RESN reaches 1.85 million households across the state of Ohio. Cleveland's 43 reaches 1.27 million households in Northeast Ohio, about 3.5 million people.

"We are excited to continue this fantastic partnership this fall," said Brian Polian '97, Vice President for Athletics and Head Football Coach. "The increased exposure across the state of Ohio is incredible for our student-athletes. We are very grateful for our partners at RESN."

John Carroll is the only University in the state of Ohio to feature live games on RESN and Cleveland's 43 this fall.

All five home JCU Football games will appear on Cleveland's 43, while four will be simulcast on RESN. Three JCU Women's Soccer, three JCU Volleyball, two Men's Soccer, and two Field Hockey games will be broadcast on RESN. The full listing of games to be aired is below.

RESN is available on Spectrum across Northeast Ohio on Channel 979 in addition to free over-the-air access on channel 22.1 all across the state of Ohio as well as the 19 News+ app. This year, RESN expanded its sports offerings. The network is carrying over 100 live Minor League Baseball games, including three of the Cleveland Guardians' minor league affiliates – the Columbus Clippers (AAA), Akron RubberDucks (AA), and the Lake County Captains (A).

Cleveland's 43 is available on most cable providers, over-the-air, and on the free 19 News+ app on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, or Android devices.

"This partnership with John Carroll University is incredibly important to us, and we are proud to expand it to bring Blue Streak athletics to homes across Ohio," said Chris Conroy, General Manager at Rock Entertainment Sports Network. "Broadcasting these games on Cleveland's 43 and RESN aligns perfectly with our commitment to local sports and our communities."

John Carroll Athletics will continue to live stream all games for free on JCUSports.com/live, including games aired live on RESN & Cleveland's 43.

The broadcast production will be almost completely staffed by students from the John Carroll Sports Information Department, with assistance from JCU Studios students. Dan Slentz and Jasen Sokol of the Tim Russert Department of Communication and freelance engineer Eric Simna '08, will provide guidance and technical expertise.

"We are blessed to have an incredible partnership with RESN that delivers a one-of-a-kind experience for our students at John Carroll," said Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Compliance Joe Ginley '16. "Our students get a rare opportunity to broadcast games to an audience of millions across the state while our student-athletes get to perform on a bigger stage. We are thankful for Dan, Jasen, and Eric, along with Lisa McManus and the RESN leadership for making this possible for our students."

John Carroll Athletics will have several TV advertisement spots available for purchase, along with in-game sponsorship opportunities on air. Interested companies can reach out to Joe Ginley at jginley@jcu.edu
