Blue Streaks Tame Cougars in Tuesday Evening Victory

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH. – Coming off a great weekend in which head coach Michele Benoit claimed her 700th career victory John Carroll continued its winning ways by defeating Chatham 3-1 Tuesday evening.

In the first set, JCU jumped out to a 10-5 lead, which forced a Chatham timeout. JCU seemed to have control 17-9, but the Cougars would go on a run and cut the lead down to 18-16.

The Blue Streaks would score the final three points, as Hailey Williams recorded a kill and Grace Jones closed the set with an emphatic kill and guided the Blue and Gold to a 25-20 win.
 
After trading points in the second set Chatham was winning 11-10. John Carroll would turn it up a notch by scoring seven of the next eight points. During the run Khole Trivoli recorded three kills and brought the energy to the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center. 

Natalie Glowe recorded one of her team-high 14 kills late in the set off a miscue from the Cougars and slammed home an easy point.

Chatham would not be able to come back and the Blue and Gold would take the second set 25-17. 

In the third set, Chatham came out with its back against the wall and built a 13-8 lead in the middle of the set that JCU would not be able overcome. The Cougars would win the set 25-20
 
The fourth set seemed to be another back and forth battle as the score was tied at 11-11. John Carroll would score 14 of the final 18 points in the set and cruise to a 25-15 victory. 

The JCU frontline was on display by recording 9 total blocks and Chatham had 20 attacking errors. Tess Murray led the way with 19 assists, while Caylynn Hovan added 14 of her own. Kallan Hrics was apart of five blocks for the Blue and Gold. 

John Carroll has a quick turnaround, as they will travel to Erie, PA. for a match with Penn State Behrend tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
