The third annual John Carroll Soccer Classic sponsored by Enerco will take place at Don Shula Stadium on the weekend of September 11-12, 2009, and will feature plenty of local flavor in the eight-team field.
The inaugural tournament held in 2007 featured for men's teams, but the 2008 edition brought together four men's
and four women's teams for a total of eight matches staged over the two-day event.
In 2009, there will once again be four men's and four women's teams participating in a classic-style format where all eight matches have pre-determined opponents and starting times (see table below).
This year's women's field includes Olivet College of Michigan, Grove City College of Pennsylvania, Case Western Reserve University and the host school . The men's foursome includes John Carroll, Hiram College, Transylvania University of Kentucky and Waynesburg College of Pennsylvania.
The final two matches of the tournament, both featuring the John Carroll teams, will be taped for a delayed television broadcast on SportsTime Ohio. The 2009 John Carroll Classic Soccer Tournament is being generously supported by
