Kate Lawson helped JCU finish the women's tennis regular season on a winning note against Muskingum

Seniors Meredith Skaggs (Huron, OH, Huron) and Kate Lawson (Westerville, OH, St. Francis DeSales)had a hand in helping John Carroll rebounds from the previous day's loss to Otterbein, as both cruised in singles win to pace a 9-0 victory over Muskingum Saturday at Purvis Park.
The lift provided by the two seniors helped sooth the psyche of a team beset lately by injuries to a pair of starters.
Meredith Skaggs (Huron, OH, Huron) played at #1 singles and took care of Nicole Meyer, 6-1, 6-0, for what was her tenenth straight win in singles play. Maria Ciccolini, Anna Navatsyk (Chardon, OH, Chardon) , Athena Pappis (Pittsburgh, PA, North Hills) and Deanna Bouchahine (Cleveland, OH, Normandy) also won in straight sets.
Lawson, the only four-year senior in the program, got the start at #6 singles and rolled past Jenni Grainstad, 6-1, 6-0
Cicciolini and Skaggs won 8-2 at #1 doubles, Navatsyk and Bouchahine won 8-0 at #2 doubles, and Lawson and Allison Mora were 8-2 winners at #3 doubles.
John Carroll completes to regular season with a record of 9-10 overal and 5-4 in the OAC. The Blue Streaks will be the #5 seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament, and will play at #4 seed Mount Union on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
