Kerry Fox drills one of her match-high nine kills during JCU's sweep of Ohio Wesleyan
The John Carroll Blue Streaks found that the best way to bounce back from a tough weekend road trip was a little home cooking as they swept the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops Tuesday evening at the DeCarlo Varsity Center.
Box Score
JCU was reeling after facing four teams at the Carnegie Mellon Crossover Tournament this past Friday and Saturday with a combined record of 42-13.
Tonight's opponent, however, would be a polar opposite as Ohio Wesleyan was winless in ten matches.
After a close opener (25-21), JCU would roll to more convincing wins in games two and three 925-15, 25-17) to snap a five-match skid.
Leading the way for the Streaks was the duo of
MaryEileen Dalton (Chicago, IL, St. Ignatius Prep) and
Kerry Fox (Western Springs, IL, Lyons Township), each of whom posted nine kills. In addition to her nine kills, Fox also added a match-high six service aces.
Junior setter
Meredith McDiarmid (Strongsville, OH, St. Joseph Academy) chipped in with eight kills and 11 digs as JCU improved to 2-1 at home this season.
The Battling Bishops were led by Meg Weissenberger, who recorded nine kills and one ace on the night.
John Carroll moves to 8-9 with Tuesday's win.
