Laura Sudo delivers one of her career-high 13 kills in Friday's match with Case Reserve
The John Carroll Blue Streaks made a spirited attempt to avenge a recent loss to the crosstown rival Case Western Reserve Spartans, but ultimately suffered a similar fate as the Spartans prevailed in four games at the DeCarlo Varsity Center Friday night.

JCU came out red hot to begin the contest making a statement early as they captured the first game, 25-23.
The Spartans, however were not ready to go down without a fight as they battled back in the second game to take a close game by the score of, 26-24, as the Blue Streaks pushed them to the brink of losing only their second straight game in over 19 games.
Carroll came out with additional intensity in the third game to even things up but the efforts of sophomore middle hitter Tricia McCuthcan were strong enough to carry Case to a five point victory.
In the final game, the Streaks forced the Spartans beyond 25 points, all but to fall late.
The Streaks were led on the court by sophomore outside hitter
Kerry Fox (Western Springs, IL, Lyons Township) who had a team-high 17 kills. Fox also added a two service aces on the night.
Leading the way for the Spartans were the duo of McCutchan sophomore outside hitter Rachael Suchy. The two combined for 23 kills and four blocks on the night.
On the night, the Blue Streaks bested the Spartans in kills (59-55) and digs with 88.
The loss drops the Streaks to 8-10 on the season while it bumps Case's mark to an impressive 12-2 mark.
