John Carroll led nearly wire-to-wire Friday night in defeating host Washington & Jefferson, 57-49, at the Washington & Jefferson Tip-Off Classic in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Box Score

The Streaks stormed out to an 11-2 lead in the opening six minutes, and maintained a healthy cushion for the remainder of the half, taking a 27-17 lead into the intermission.

The hosts started out hot in the second half, and when Emily Abraham drilled a three-point field goal at the 15:43 mark, it capped a 15-4 run that netted the Presidents their only lead of the night at 32-31.

Katie Knox answered on the next drive down the floor, using a lay-up that gave JCU the lead back for good.

The margin was still a single point with ten minutes to play when JCU began slowly pull away. Lee Jennings scored 11 of her game-high 30 points down the stretch, while Emilee Ritchie iced the game with a three-pointer with 36 seconds left that proved to be the final basket scored in the game.

John Carroll (2-0) got a 30-point, 16-rebound night from Jennings, while Ritchie added 11 points. Knox added ten rebounds to the cause.
