Men’s Team Brings Home Points Trophy

On Sunday February 21, the rowing team attended The Hammer Ergatta, this year held at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland.  The JCU squad was expected to be front runners in the collegiate competition, but five members of the girl's team were unable to participate due to illness.  Despite the numbers disadvantage, the team was able to provide some great individual results in the 2000 meter competition:

Men's Open Lightweight

1st Place               Miles Nevin

2nd Place              Shawn Cain

3rd Place               Devin Eicher

Women's Open Lightweight

2nd Place              Lauren Brock

Women's Open Novice

2nd Place              Lauren Penkala

6 Person 3k Relay

3rd Place               JCU 

Women's 1k Open Coxswain

1st Place               Kate Schaefer

Overall, the JCU Men's Team won the Men's Points Trophy, narrowly winning by 1 point ahead of Cleveland State and 2 points ahead of Case Western.    The JCU Women's team placed second to Case, losing by 32 points.  Case won the Combined Team Championship Cup.
