Rudy Kirbus earned All-District and the Blue Streaks finished in the top 25 for the sixth time in eight years
Although the Blue Streaks' basketball season is officially history, the awards haven't stopped coming in.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) nominated John Carroll senior forward
Rudy Kirbus (Willoughby Hills, OH, Cleveland St. Ignatius) to the All Great Lakes District First Team. Kirbus, a pre-season first-team All-American as selected by D3hoops.com, was instrumental in leading the Blue Streaks to an impressive 21-7 record and a second consecutive regular season OAC championship.
Kirbus was also named to the first team All-OAC and first team All Great Lakes Region by d3hoops.com at the conclusion of the season.
John Carroll men's basketball also received good news as a program. For the sixth time in the last eight years, the Blue Streaks are ranked in the final D3hoops.com final Top 25 poll of the season.
The 2009-2010 JCU squad claimed the 23rd spot after losing to Guilford in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Blue Streaks best finish came in 2003-2004 when they took home the third spot after losing to UW-Stevens Point in the Division III Final Four. D3hoops.com first began polling teams during the 1999-2000 season.
