Women's Soccer To Host Baldwin-Wallace In OAC Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday Night

In the opening round of OAC Tournament play, the fourth-seeded Blue Streaks will host the fifth-seeded Yellow Jackets for the second time in two weeks.  Gates at Don Shula Stadium will open at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, and the match will commence at 7:00 p.m. 

The winner of the contest will travel to Ohio Northern to take on the top-seeded Polar Bears in the semifinal round of the OAC Tournamenty on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. 

Baldwin-Wallace visited the Blue Streaks last Wednesday, October 26, with the match ending in a 2-0 John Carroll victory, running JCU's home record to 8-1.  Freshman forward Kaylin Akerly scored both goals to lead the Streaks. 

Senior Colleen Harmon (nine goals, five assists), Akerly (seven goals, three assists), and the Streaks will look to ensure that history repeats itself Tuesday night.  John Carroll will enter play with 12-7 overall record, 6-3 in the OAC, while BW finished the regular season 11-8 overall, 4-5 in OAC play.

Junior midfielder Genny Goergen has contributed five goals to the Blue Streaks' cause, while defenders Mari O'Neill and Kayla Acklin have anchored the defense.  John Carroll has scored 35 goals this season, and has outshot its opponents 405-188.

General admission tickets will be $7 for the contest, but a valid OAC student ID guarantees admission free of charge.  Admission is $2 for anyone 18 and under, and tickets for seniors are $5.  For more information on ticket prices and the OAC tournament, please check out www.oac.org.
