Box Score Coming into their fifth home match of the year with a perfect 4-0 record at Don Shula Stadium, the John Carroll University women's soccer team aimed to maintain their undefeated record at home with a win over the visiting Hiram Terriers.

After an opening half where opportunity knocked repeatedly but no answer came, John Carroll broke through with two second half goals to prevail by a 2-0 score

A loss in their last game on the road to Otterbein University had the Blue Streaks happy to have the opportunity to be able to head back home to Don Shula Stadium to get back on the winning track.

The game against the Terriers began as a defensive struggle, as neither team could find the back of the net, leaving the halftime score tied at zero. Despite the halftime score being tied at zero, the Blue Streaks dominated the visitors in terms of offensive opportunities, outshooting Otterbein in the first half 17-3.

As the second half of action began, the Blue Streaks kept peppering the Terriers goalie consistently with shots. Eventually, JCU cashed in on a shot opportunity as senior Colleen Harmon scored the first goal of the game in the 57th minute with the assist coming from freshman Kelly Kertis. The goal from Harmon was her sixth of the season.

Only minutes later, the Blue Streaks scored again as senior Rachel Grdina scored off of a header in the 60th minute to give JCU the 2-0 advantage. Freshman Kaylin Akerly assisted Grdina on the goal.

From there, the Blue Streaks impressive defense was strong enough to allow JCU to hold on for the victory. JCU outshot the Terriers 33-6 on the night.

With the win, the Blue Streaks improved their overall record on the season to 7-5.
