John Carroll had an inauspicious start to its three-match swing through the Carnegie Mellon Quad. Thankfully, the visit to Pittsburgh ended much better than it started.
A win over Adrian in their final match enabled the Blue Streaks to finish the tournament with a 1-2 record.

JCU fell by a 25-9 25-19 25-21 count to Westminster -- a team it had just beat the week before at the Marcia French Tournament -- on Friday evening to open play. Sarah Slagle led the way with eight kills, while Melanie Rodriguez added ten digs.
On Saturday morning, John Carroll fell to the host team in four games -- 22-25 25-14 25-17 25-21. Kerry Fox, Charlotte Sykora and Laura Sudo combined for 27 kills, with Gina Catania contributing 28 assists.
The Blue Streaks salvaged their trip with a 22-25 25-23 25-13 25-21 win over Adrian. Fox had 15 kills and nine assists, while Sykora had 12 kills and four blocks.
John Carroll is now 8-5 on the season.
