A flat first set chimed the tone that it would be a tough evening in New Concord, as host Muskingum delivered a sweep in front of a Homecoming Day crowd, 25-15 27-25, 25-12.
John Carroll showed signs of life in the second. After falling behind 15-9, the Blue Streaks rallied and forced the game beyond regulation, but the host squad won the last two points to take a 2-0 lead.
Using that momentum, the Muskies rolled to an easy win in the third frame.
Muskingum (15-11, 3-3 OAC) hit 38 kills and was led by ten from Katie Sidwell.
John Carroll (10-15, 0-5) got a match-high 12 kills from
Sarah Orlandi and 28 digs from
Sara Kaminski.
