Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Sunday's challenge for the John Carroll softball program was to face a team that has been to four NCAA Division III tournaments in the past seven years on its home field where it has won over 70 percent of its games since 2005.

Thanks to an offense that produced 16 runs, the Blue Streaks improved to 12-2 following a sweep of the Thomas More College Saints in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

John Carroll battled back from five runs down to win game one, 10-8, then cruised to a 6-1 victory in the nightcap.

Box Scores:  Game One  Game Two

In game one, the Blue & Gold fell behind 5-0 after just one inning. But it took a nine-run explosion in the top of the fifth frame to get back on track.  The Blue Streaks would add an insurance run in the seventh and took a 10-8 lead into the bottom of the inning.  Blue Streak senior Brittany Danilov shut the door on the Saints with a scoreless inning giving her her seventh victory of the season, and John Carroll's 11th win.

Sophomore shortstop Samantha Becker led the way offensively for the Blue Streaks by going two-for-four with three RBIs.  Senior third baseman Erin Riccardi along with sophomore left fielder Morgan Robinson went one-for-four in game one with two RBIs.

In game two, it was all Blue Streaks. Sophomore pitcher Trisha Pike pitched seven innings of one run softball en route to her fifth win of the season, and the Blue & Gold's 12th of the season.

With the game tied up at one apiece heading into the third inning, the Blue Streaks put a three spot on the board in the third and followed that up with two more insurance runs in the fourth frame.

The Saints scored one run in the first and then were at the mercy of Pike, who pitched valiantly in the contest as she struck out four, improving her record to a perfect 5-0 in 2012.

Becker, Riccardi, and senior centerfielder Michelle Murphy each had two RBIs in the contest, and hit for a combined average of .400 in the ballgame.

With the two losses the Saints of Thomas More drop to a 10-6 overall record.
