On some occasions this season, it has been singles play that has carried John Carroll to a victory. Other times, it has been doubles.
When the Blue Streak women's tennis took on Mount Union Thursday, it turned out to be doubles day.
A sweep of the doubles matches propelled the Streaks to a 5-4 victory over their Ohio Athletic Conference rivals in a dual meet held at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights.

Maria Ciccolini and
Cassie Simmelink won at #1 doubles over Krissy Hallett and Mandy Wise by an 8-4 count.
Erin Davies and
Hannah Baumwell at #2 as well as
Joanne Weber and
Tracy Gibson at #3 won their respective matches by identical 8-6 scores.
Ahead 3-0, JCU needed just two singles wins to clinch the victory. Those triumphs came courtesy of wins by Ciccolini at #1 and Weber at #3.
John Carroll is now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the OAC, while Mount Union fell to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in league play.
