The Blue Streaks have posted three straight shutouts.
Box Score With dominating performances in its last two games including knocking off regionally-ranked Mount Union earlier in the week, the John Carroll University women's soccer team headed to Muskingum University in search of its first OAC road win.
The Blue Streaks responded with a 3-0 blanking of the Fighting Muskies for the teams' third straight shutout.
"It was good to go on the road and get an OAC win," said head coach
Michael Marich. "We played well in the game and used the intensity from our last two games. The two first half goals gave us momentum and we were able to build on it in the second half. Our team really took care of the ball."
Preston Mendel opened the scoring in the 13th minute with her first collegiate goal. The freshman finished a volley from
Kay Akerly.
Kristen Profeta put away a header in the 28th minute off of a Blue Streak corner kick to give John Carroll a 2-goal edge heading into halftime.
Akerly buried a rebound in the 70th minute to close out the scoring, her fifth goal of the season.
The Blue Streaks, who enjoyed a 23-5 shot advantage, peppered three shots in the first 13 minutes before Mendel's goal and never looked back.
Muskingum mustered its primary offensive charge after Profeta's goal but
Haley McDonald was up for the test turning three Fighting Muskie shots away in the first half. McDonald finished with four saves and posted her third straight shutout.
John Carroll returns home to take on cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
