Senior Night Spoiled But Postseason Plans Begin For John Carroll Volleyball

Box Score Sometimes, the luck of the draw provides for a less than festive end to a regular season home schedule.

As luck would have it, on senior night, the John Carroll volleyball team was faced with the task of defending its home court against the first place Berg of Heidelberg University.

The night began by honoring John Carroll's lone senior, Teresa Noewer, who has played in over 100 games in her collegiate career as a Blue Streak and has proved to be a major asset as a leader to this otherwise young squad.

The night ended with league-leading Heidelberg dispatching the Blue Streaks in three competitive sets
25-21, 25-18, 25-18.

Despite a terrific night from Kit O'Shaughnessy, whose team high .714 hitting percentage along with a team-nest 27 assists and 14 digs, the Blue Streaks could not offset what Heidelberg seemed to have as an answer to everything thrown at them.

The Berg hit .322 in the match (46 kills against just nine errors) while JCU had 38 kills but 16 errors brought h team attack percentage down to .191.

After tonight's match the Streaks drop to 4-4 in the conference and 18-10 overall, while Heidelberg remains undefeated in conference play with a record of 8-0, and improves to 16-13 overall.

Although the regular season is coming to a close, the Blue Streaks will continue their season with an appearance in the OAC tournament, marking the team's first presence in the postseason since 2010. A win this Saturday at Wilmington would also ensure the first upper division finish for the Blue Streaks since 2002.
