JCU Men's Tennis Drops OAC Quarterfinal, 5-2

Ryan Mullaney went 2-0 against Mount Union to wrap up an outstanding senior season
The 2013 men's tennis season ended today for John Carroll University, as the No. 5 Blue Streaks put up a fight but could not overcome the No. 4 seed Mount Union in the quarterfinal round of the OAC Tournament.

The loss snaps JCU's streak of seven consecutive trips to the conference semifinals.

Results

The Blue & Gold finished doubles play at a 2-1 disadvantage, before dropping three singles bouts to end the match.

Ryan Mullaney and Sean Graham worked hard for a 9-7 doubles victory to start the day, but the Blue Streaks' only other promising doubles opportunity ended in a 8-6 defeat at #3.

In singles play, Mullaney (#1) finished his illustrious career with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, but John Carroll could not build on his momentum. 

The Purple Raiders will advance to play in Cincinnati on Friday, while the Blue & Gold's season will end at 5-13 overall.
