Box Score John Carroll fought hard to extend the match in a tightly contested third set on Tuesday night in a nonconference tilt at Denison University.

The Big Red held on to take a 25-12, 25-18, 23-23 sweep over the visiting Blue Streaks to improve to 7-3. John Carroll fell to 5-5.

Sarah Orlandi led the Blue Streaks with seven kills with Alexa Webber right behind with six. Sara Kaminski led the defense with 11 digs and Jessica Kodrich distributed 19 assists with her first start at setter this season. Kaminski and Katie Cosker each added a kill from the back row.

The Blue Streak hitters heated up in the third set hitting .265 but it was not enough as the Big Red out-hit John Carroll .228 to .065 for the match.

John Carroll will compete in the Purple Raider Classic this weekend hosted by Mount Union. The Blue Streaks will take on Kalamazoo College on Friday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. before a doubleheader on Saturday versus Bethany College and Alma College starting at 12:30 p.m.
