Box Score The John Carroll University volleyball team entered its match versus Alma College looking to bounce back after being swept to start the day. The Blue Streaks responded by sweeping the Scots.

John Carroll took the match 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 to improve to 7-6 on the season.

"I was proud of how they bounced back," said second-year head coach Laura Rodeffer. "We have a really young team. After the rough loss where we didn't play well you never know how they are going to respond. They came out with a ton of energy. Everyone knew their role and they executed it really well."

Leah Switalski led the Blue Streaks hitting .450 for the match with 11 kills. Setter Kit O'Shaughnessy had the Scots guessing all match long whether she would set the ball or attack in. The Elyria Catholic product finished with eight digs and six kills. The back row tandem of Katie Cosker and Sara Kaminski combined for 29 digs.

John Carroll jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first set and was in cruise control. Switalski added three kills in the opening moments of the first set to pace John Carroll. The Scots would not go away and continued to chip away at the Blue Streaks lead coming as close as two at 22-20. A costly free ball sent out of bounds by Alma setter Mary Dulzo and Switalski's sixth kill of the set gave the frame to John Carroll.

The Blue Streak hitters heated up in the second set finishing with a .314 hitting percentage for the frame. John Carroll jumped out to a 12-4 advantage paced once again by Switalski who had two more kills. Dulzo's aced brought the Scots back to within three but John Carroll responded with a 6-0 run to close out the set led by Jessica Kodrich's two kills.

Seven unforced attack errors by Alma proved to be the difference in the third set as John Carroll won by seven. After Natalie May opened the set with an ace, the Scots fought to tip the momentum their way but three straight attack errors by Alma twice in the third set kept the Blue Streaks rolling. O'Shaughnessy closed out the match with a kill and an ace to give the Blue Streaks their sixth sweep of the season.

O'Shaughnessy was named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of Saturday's play.

John Carroll travels to Ohio Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. match on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
